My new play BORIS: WORLD KING is now running the the Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh Fringe.
It stars David Benson and Alice McCarthy, directed by Yaz Al-Shaater and is produced by Three’s Company and KPS Productions.
The show is going down a storm – at this point it is sold out for the whole week to come. And it’s had some great reviews – a selection below…
★★★★ “David Benson is uncannily accurate… A very amusing show, with a bite in its tail, that surely deserves a London transfer.”
London Evening Standard (Veronica Lee)
★★★★ “Written with equal parts flourish and focus, it nails both Johnson’s blustery charm and the steely way he uses it”
The Times (Dominic Maxwell)
★★★★★ “A giddy, silly and savagely satirical delight. Impeccable performances match impeccable writing in this unique take on one of Britain’s most unique figures.”
Broadway Baby (Rory Mackenzie)
“A sensational five-star performance… Wow! A treat”
Gyles Brandreth
“The sharpest show I’ve seen on this year’s Fringe. The writing is beautiful and the delivery so exacting.”
Keiza Dugdale, Scottish Labour Leader (in The Times)
“Satire as sharp as ever… A comic but accurate account of the rise and pratfalls of a politican whose career feels uniquely suited to slapstick dramatisation.”
The Guardian (Mark Lawson)
★★★★ “David Benson does a superb impersonation of Johnson, nailing his wild, stuttering mannerisms, and Crawshaw’s script cleverly allows BJ to hang himself with his own desperate need to please. A smart and unsettling piece.”
The Stage
★★★★ “Very amusing and highly recommended”
The Student Newspaper
★★★★ “Tom Crawshaw’s fine entertainment deserves to be seen by everyone.”
British Theatre Guide
★★★★ “Nothing short of hysterical… a fantastic, gaffe-a-minute show”
Frowning Magazine
“A rip-roaring hour… if you can get tickets, this is a show not to miss”
Iain Dale, LBC Radio
