Nine years on from a scratch production on the Buxton Fringe, I have finally found the perfect composer to write a new full version of a musical I’ve been working on since 2004.
Plane Of Existence is a philosophical comedy musical in which three criminals board a plane to Mexico with stolen documents, only to discover that three people in Business Class are writing a musical about them. It’s loosely based on the book Sophie’s World but is mainly a chance for lots of quick-fire dialogue, farce and toe-tapping tunes.
I am in the process of re-drafting the book and lyrics with Matt Marks composing the music. Matt trained in composition at University of Nottingham and Tisch School of Arts, New York and has written music for countless plays, dance pieces, concerts, film and TV since. He won the Frederick Loewe ASCAP award for musical theatre composition in 1997. Read more about him at www.mattmarks.com
We hope to premiere the musical either on the London or Edinburgh Fringe in the coming year, with plans for a tour or off-West End / West End run.
